Single Tooth Implant Perth CBD
In short: a single tooth implant replaces one missing tooth with a titanium implant in the jaw, an abutment (connector) and a custom crown. It doesn’t affect the teeth either side. At Perth Prime Dental in Perth CBD, a single implant starts from $4,500, including the implant, abutment and crown, with a written, itemised quote after a complimentary consultation. Dr Ali Matin plans and places every implant in-house.

What is a single tooth implant?
A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone where the root of the missing tooth used to be. Over the following months the bone bonds to the implant (this is called osseointegration). A connector called an abutment is then attached, and a custom-made crown is fitted on top, shaped and coloured to match your other teeth.
Is a single implant right for you?
A single implant may suit you if you’ve lost one tooth (or one tooth needs to come out), your general health is good, and you have enough bone, or bone can be rebuilt with bone grafting or, in the upper back jaw, a sinus lift. Smoking, uncontrolled diabetes and active gum disease increase the risk of problems, so we check and manage these first.
Single implant vs bridge vs denture
| Single implant | Bridge | Partial denture | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Affects neighbouring teeth | No | Yes, the teeth either side are shaped to hold it | Clasps rest on other teeth |
| Fixed or removable | Fixed | Fixed | Removable |
| Helps maintain jawbone | Yes | No | No |
| Cleaning | Brush and floss like a natural tooth | Special floss under the bridge | Remove and clean daily |
| Upfront cost | Highest | Medium | Lowest |
We’ll explain all three options at your consultation, including when a bridge or denture is the better choice for you.
The single implant process, step by step
- Complimentary consultation. We discuss your goals and health, examine the area and take X-rays to check the bone.
- Your plan and written quote. You get an itemised quote covering the implant, abutment, crown and any grafting, before you decide.
- Implant placement. The implant is placed under local anaesthetic. Most people go back to normal activities within a day or two.
- Healing (osseointegration). Over roughly 3–4 months the bone bonds to the implant. A temporary tooth can often be provided so there’s no gap.
- Abutment and crown. We take an impression and fit your custom crown, matched to your other teeth.
- Reviews and maintenance. Regular check-ups and cleans keep the implant and gums healthy over the long term.

Risks and things to consider
Implant placement is surgery, and like any surgery it carries risks. These include infection, bleeding, swelling, damage to nearby teeth or nerves, sinus problems in the upper jaw, and the implant not bonding to the bone. Most of these are uncommon, and careful planning reduces them, but no result can be guaranteed. Long-term success also depends on good home care, not smoking and regular reviews. We’ll go through your own risks at your consultation, and you’re welcome to seek a second opinion.
Ways to pay: Afterpay, Zip, Zip Money, humm and DentiCare payment plans (subject to approval), all private health funds with on-the-spot HICAPS claiming, and early release of superannuation for eligible patients. See payment options.
Frequently asked questions
How much is a single dental implant at Perth Prime Dental?
A single implant starts from $4,500, including the implant, abutment and crown. Extra steps such as bone grafting are quoted separately in your written, itemised quote.
How long does a single implant take?
Usually about 3–6 months from placement to your final crown, because the bone needs time to bond to the implant. If you need bone grafting first, it can take longer.
Does getting an implant hurt?
The implant is placed under local anaesthetic, so you shouldn’t feel pain during the procedure. Mild soreness for a few days afterwards is common and is usually managed with over-the-counter pain relief.
Can I have an implant if I’ve been told I don’t have enough bone?
Often, yes. Bone grafting or a sinus lift can rebuild bone so an implant can be placed. Dr Ali Matin performs these procedures in-house. Your consultation and X-rays will show what’s possible.
Does private health insurance cover implants?
Some extras policies with major dental cover pay a rebate towards implants, often subject to annual limits and waiting periods. We’ll give you the item numbers so you can check with your fund.
