Tooth extraction in Perth CBD
We’ll always look at saving a tooth first. If it can be repaired with a filling, a crown or root canal treatment, we’ll explain that option and its cost alongside the extraction, so the choice is yours. We recommend an extraction when a tooth is too broken down to restore, badly infected, loose from gum disease, cracked below the gum, or a wisdom tooth is causing problems.
Teeth that are fully through the gum can usually be removed with a simple extraction. Teeth under the gum or bone, with curved roots, or likely to break, need a surgical extraction: a small gum flap, sometimes a little bone removal, and stitches.

Wisdom teeth removal in Perth CBD
Not every wisdom tooth needs to come out. We check yours with an examination and X-ray, looking at its position, its roots and how close it sits to the nerve in the lower jaw. We’ll tell you whether it’s causing, or likely to cause, problems such as repeated gum infection (pericoronitis), decay, or damage to the tooth in front.
Many wisdom teeth, including some impacted ones, can be removed in the chair with local anaesthetic. If yours is very deep or close to the nerve, or you’d prefer to have several removed while asleep, we’ll explain why an oral and maxillofacial surgeon may be the better choice and refer you.
How it works
- Examination and X-ray, and a chat about your medical history and medicines (tell us about blood thinners and bone medications).
- A written quote. Nothing goes ahead until you’ve agreed.
- The extraction, with the area numbed by local anaesthetic. Nervous? Tell us, and we’ll explain each step and pause whenever you need.
- Aftercare in writing, so you know what to do at home. If something doesn’t feel right during healing, call us.

Replacing the tooth
Wisdom teeth don’t need replacing. For other teeth, tell us before the extraction if you’re thinking about a replacement, because it can change how we plan it:
- Single dental implant from $4,500, with a free implant consultation. In selected cases, the implant can be placed at the same visit as the extraction.
- Bone grafting into the socket to keep the bone for a future implant.
- A bridge from $4,500, or a removable denture.

Frequently asked questions
Can I have a tooth taken out on the same day?
Sometimes. Book an emergency appointment ($99, including examination and X-rays). If an extraction is the right treatment, it can sometimes be done at the same visit; if not, we’ll book it in as soon as we can. Same-day appointments are offered where possible.
Do you remove wisdom teeth in the chair?
Yes. Many wisdom teeth, including some impacted ones, can be removed in the chair with local anaesthetic, from $350 per tooth. Very deep teeth, or teeth close to the nerve, may be referred to an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
Can I claim a tooth extraction on my health fund?
If you have extras cover that includes general or oral surgery dental items, you can usually claim part of the cost. We claim on the spot with HICAPS, so you only pay the gap on the day.
Do I need an X-ray before an extraction?
Yes. An X-ray shows the roots, the surrounding bone and, for lower wisdom teeth, how close the roots are to the nerve. It helps decide whether a simple or surgical extraction is needed.
